Snake still on live prey? Read our guide: How to Switch to Frozen-Thawed.
Our frozen feeder rats are raised on a specially formulated diet supplemented with essential vitamins, minerals and organic fruit and veg — because your snake's nutrition starts with what its food ate. The result is well-conditioned, nutritionally complete whole prey for pythons, boas and other large reptiles.
Every size for every snake
- Pinkies — hatchlings and small snakes
- Fuzzies — juveniles
- Pups & weaners — sub-adults
- Adults — large pythons and boas
Feed prey roughly the same width as the thickest part of your snake's body. If you're between sizes, size down and feed slightly more often.
Why frozen beats live
Frozen-thawed prey is safer for your snake (live rodents can bite and injure reptiles), more humane, and freezing kills most parasites. It's the standard recommended by reptile vets worldwide.
Quality you can see
Our rats are snap-frozen quickly after processing and shipped in insulated packaging with ice packs. Customers across South Africa — from Joburg to Barberton and beyond — consistently report orders arriving perfectly frozen.
Feeding and storage
Store at -18°C and use within 6 months. Thaw fully in the fridge overnight or in cool water; warm to room temperature before offering. Never microwave, and never refreeze thawed prey.
